I really want to emphasize that there is so much more to homeschooling than which curriculum you choose.

Choosing our curriculum was definitely an important decision for me. I researched the various methods and went with what felt like a good fit for our family. Also important is that I considered what would best support and supplement my other homeschooling goals. I don’t plan our homeschool around curriculum; I plan our curriculum around our homeschool lifestyle.

I understand that may not make a lot of sense if you are newly transitioning from public school, but I think it will begin to! When you’re feeling anxious and ambivalent, I think it’s easy to hyperfocus on one detail…such as finding the “perfect” curriculum (ask me how I know 🤣🤪).

I encourage you to consider what you hope to gain (for yourself, your children, your family) from homeschooling. I think it will bring you peace and clarity.

My favorite aspects of homeschooling — family and sibling closeness, more time to spend with grandparents and great grandparents, freedom to work at my children’s pace and within their interests, ability to dive deep into topics of interest, flexibility to take breaks when needed, preserving and slowing down their childhoods, opportunity to teach important life skills, learning alongside my kids, spending unlimited amounts of time outdoors, and just the general comfort that comes with being home together and all that it lends itself to (more time for snuggles, deep conversations, baking together, etc.).

Those of you who have been homeschooling for a while now — please share a few of your favorite aspects of homeschooling!

Those of you who are new to homeschooling — what about it are you most looking forward to?
